Our New Detailing Van

We recently invested in a new detailing van

So we bit the bullet and said goodbye to the trusted Caddy, she had served us well over the previous four and a half years only breaking down once. But every time I needed to get a piece of equipment it was like doing a Rubic’s Cube you had to move three squares to get to the one you wanted.

We have been looking for a suitable replacement for a while now and we decided that it had to be a VW Transporter due to there reliability, build quality and looks. This one you could say didn’t turn up at the most convenient of times after 8 weeks of solid rain causing us to postpone more jobs than we completed. But the spec, mileage, colour and condition meant we couldn’t let it slip through our fingers.

Buying the van was only the start, we then had to insulate, ply line, carpet and build the shelving to hold all of the equipment.

We decided that to future proof and allow for additional services we needed to upgrade some of the tools we had. These included

  • 500ltr Water Tank for Spotless Water

  • 100ltr, 3hp silent Air Compressor

  • 8Kw Generator

  • Kranzle Ventos 32 Vacuum

  • 20m Vacuum hose on a reel

  • 20m Air Hose on a reel

  • More spray bottle storage

  • Roof rack to hold Gazeebo and mini scaffold tower

After fitting all of these in the van we found that we didn’t have any room left over however unlike the Caddy we can now access everything easily and the addition of the hose reels means we can work more efficiently and tidily.

We have been running the van for several weeks now and are getting great feedback from our customers and friends on social media. All in all it has been a great decision and huge step forward for us and the business.
