Since fitting out our new Detailing Van we have started using Spotless Water for all of our Valeting services! Below we list what it is, why and the benefits to you.
What is water hardness?
Tap water across the UK has differing levels of mineral content within it, I am sure you have been on holiday and found the tap water tastes different, furs up the inside of your kettle and you need more washing up liquid to produce all of those lovely bubbles. This is due to the mineral content within it. The mineral content is measured as Total Dissolved Solids or TDS as you can see from the map UK below this varies considerably and the South West of the UK has particularly hard water.

What is spotless water?
Spotless water, often called deionised or purified water, has had minerals like calcium, magnesium, and other impurities removed by sophisticated filtration methods. These minerals are perfectly safe to drink, however when it comes to car detailing they are not ideal due to how they dry. When non-purified water dries, the minerals become visible, leaving spot marks on the surface. These minerals are typically responsible for the water spots and streaks you see after washing your car. By eliminating them, spotless water dries without leaving behind residue, which can leave etching in your paint overtime if not removed.

What are the Benefits?
Using spotless water reduces the need to dry your vehicle after washing which reduces the likely hood of marring/scratching the paint with a contaminated drying towel. It also allows you to wash your the car in warmer sunnier conditions as water naturally drying will not leave any spotting on the paintwork. Water spots if left on the paint work will in time eat into the paint/lacquer, the only way to remove these imperfections in the paint would be by machine polishing, however if they are caught early on acidic decontamination products such as Garage Therapy Water Spot Remover will work.
Are there any Drawbacks?
To you the customer NO! There are only benefits.
